Season 11

Welcome to the next iteration of MiHSEF! We are excited for this fall as the longest-running esports league for both high school and middle school in Michigan! We’re thrilled to bring back middle school for its 6th season and high school for its 11th! Here are some key changes from the summer and upcoming this year:

What’s New?

• You may have noticed… a new website!
• LeagueOS has a brand new facelift, giving you a more user-friendly interface for yourself and your students.
• State Champions for certain games in the fall will now feed into the HSEL Premier League in the spring.
• We have partnered with Gaming Concepts as our recommended curriculum partner for esports education.
• We have launched the Michigan High School Esports Coaches Association! Sign up at www.mhseca.org for updates and events.
• We hosted the first Esports Coaching Summit at Kent ISD in Grand Rapids!
• We will be hosting new local events all over the state, so look out for something near you!

Season Updates

There are some competition updates to know about:

• This season will be split into Varsity and JV, similar to how we were split before last season.
• For team games, each school is allowed 1 Varsity team and unlimited JV teams.
• For solo games, unlimited teams per school are allowed, and Varsity and JV are combined.
• Varsity team games will play in regions, which will be generated after varsity registration closes based on location.
• Varsity solo games, JV-level games, and middle school games will play in a queue system each week.

Shoutcasting

Shoutcasting is coming back!

This is our second time offering shoutcasting, in conjunction with the Michigan Association of Broadcasters, Grand Valley State University, Kent ISD, and Streamer Palm! If you have interested students, email info@mihsef.org, and we will get them signed up and send you instructions. We will have four submission dates, and judges will provide feedback based on a rubric shared with students. The top four students will be invited to participate at the High School Fall State Championships at UM Flint on December 7th to Shoutcast live on stream in front of a crowd!

Fall State Championships

Fall State Championships ’84 and Spring State Finals ’75 will both be at UM Flint again this year, bigger and better than ever! We have the opportunity to expand, adding more PCs or more space. We are still debating the best options.

New Schools

Welcome to our 2024 season! After you register, we will send you an email with your information. Please check your spam folder. You will receive:

• A Discord invite for you and your students, where we host our community of over 1,600 students, coaches, and collegiate directors.
• An invite to our LeagueOS platform, your one-stop shop for MiHSEF competition.
• A welcome packet outlining the many benefits of being in MiHSEF and the next steps.
• And much more!

Your school will be verified and approved by the MiHSEF team before sending you the season registration information. The membership application can be found here!

High School Esports League

Supplement your state competitions with regional and nationwide events from the largest and longest running K-12 esports league in the nation! HSEL features 3 tiers of competition, regional and national divisions, as well as multi-tiered playoff brackets to maximize student opportunities.
