Does the Michigan High School Athletics Association (MHSAA) currently run esports?

The MHSAA is not currently involved in esports.

Does the NFHS help govern esports or give approvals for varsity letters?

No. The National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) does not offer varsity letters and does not currently govern esports. 

Can anyone be a coach?

Yes! Whether your a parent, teacher or community member, working with youth as a coach is a very rewarding experience. We encourage anyone interested to contact their local school and work with them to start a program or assist the current program!

What are the basics steps to get to playing?

  1. Register with MiHSEF at www.mihsef.org/register and wait for verification (can take a day or two)
  2. Get the permission form signed from the advisor packet
  3. Once you get the platform invitation, setup your students accounts, create a team and register
  4. As the season begins, your games start to come in!
